A friend of mine turned me on to crappie fishing this summer. We found an awesome spot under the bridge on Lake Bob Sandlin, about 2 hours east of Dallas, TX.

We used live minnows and red on white jigs.

Can't wait to get back on the water.

I didn't take us to long once we started fishing for them. We go early and fish for gills then switch to fishing Crappie in the evening.

How long was it before you took your first crappie? Hopefully not too long. I know people that struggle for hours to take a crappie. It's always wise to bring some reading material in those cases. Anyway, it sounds like you had a nice time! Thanks for the post.

I have always had great luck with either pink or pink & green minnows when fishing for Crappie. I don't know what it is about those colors but they almost always go for them.
